FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – An 18-year-old soldier from California died Friday, Sept. 5, during training on a rifle range at Fort Leonard Wood in Pulaski County, Missouri.
The soldier, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment, was pronounced dead at 10:33 a.m. by General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital medical personnel, according to a Fort Leonard Wood news release.
No other soldiers or cadre were injured. The soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the incident. Additional details will be released as they become available.
