FRANKLINVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Concerns are mounting among Franklinville-area residents who live near Ischua Creek, which state environmental officials say was contaminated by discharge from the Great Lakes Cheese facility.
Over a dozen residents lined the stretch of Route 16 in front of the facility Friday to protest the company, which they say needs to be held accountable for any and all potential environmental impacts.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation received reports of a large fish kill on Aug. 26 after several residents encountered tens of thousands of dead fish in the creek.
