YOUNGSTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) -- On Friday, high school senior Gavin Burns proved that truly nothing can hold him back.

At just 10 years old, Gavin lost his lower leg and foot in a tragic accident. Now, as a senior in high school, Gavin is making history as the first amputee to play for Lewiston-Porter High School Football.

"I knew as soon as I set my mind to it, I could do anything," Burns said.

In 2018, 10-year-old Gavin's life changed forever when he lost his lower leg and foot in a lawnmower accident.

"I felt so bad for him," said Gavin's grandfather, Jimmy Page. "And he grabbed me and hugged me and said, Papa, don't worry. Everything will be OK."
