A 57-year-old woman from Auburn, Indiana, was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a car in Ketchikan.

The driver of the vehicle remains in serious condition after exiting the Centennial Parking lot, striking the victim, breaking a fence, and plummeting down into the Ketchikan Creek.

Tracy Brown, who works just down the road from the scene, spoke to Your Alaska Link about the accident.

Tracy Brown states, "It's one thing if you are actually in the car that goes over the edge, it's another thing to just be randomly walking down the street and have that happen to you. I find that kind of upsetting."
