Railroads had a big economic impact on frontier communities.
Chilton Cemetery is off of FM 2911. It’s the original site of an East Texas town we know very well that had to pick up and move everything twice. and there’s more to this story.
″When the Caddo Indians moved out, the white man moved into the Caddo Indians dwellings," said Texas historian Mike Baggett.
It was the 1870s community of Chilton, later to become Big Sandy, and the railroad was coming.
