ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — The Ithaca Police Department is asking the public for help finding the vehicle and driver responsible for a hit-and-run that sent a person to a trauma center on Friday.

On Friday, Sept. 5, around 10:49 p.m. IPD officers were called to the area near W. Buffalo Street and Taughannock Blvd. for the report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, as stated in a release from the Ithaca Police Department (IPD). The vehicle who police said hit the pedestrian in the road left the scene, the release explained.

As a result of the crash, the pedestrian who was hit suffered life threatening injuries and was air lifted to a local trauma center for further treatment, the release noted. The name of the pedestrian was not released at the time this story was published due to the injuri
