BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The first weekend of September has started off as an active one with plenty of rainfall and a few severe storms across the state today. This evening, thunderstorms to the NW of I-95 will pass over the interstate, working just to the SE of I-95. Around sunset, showers and a few storms are still likely to the SE of the interstate. The window of severe weather will end by 8:00pm with showers still lingering Downeast and across the Midcoast around midnight.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed Southern and Central Maine under a Slight (Category 2) risk for severe storms, while the Midcoast, Bangor region, and some of the Foothills have been placed under a Marginal (Category 1) risk for the rest of the evening.
