A Hartford man was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car that fled the scene, fire officials said.
The Hartford Fire Department said they responded to the intersection of Albany Avenue and Chestnut Street at 7:30 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, authorities said they found a 79-year-old man lying in the roadway where EMS and fire personnel assisted with treatment before transporting the man to a hospital.
Passing cars stopped to assist the victim before emergency responders arrived, the Hartford Fire Department said.
The eastbound side of Albany Avenue remains closed from Belden Street while the Hartford Police Department investigates.
