Winchester police say they are investigating the cause of a fatal accident involving a bicycle.

Police responded to the area of 143 North Main Street around 2:24 p.m. for a bicyclist who may have been involved in a car crash, police said.

When arriving, officers found a man who was unresponsive, the Winchester Police Department said.

Authorities said that after performing life saving medical care, the bicyclist was taken to Hartford Healthcare HealthCenter in Winsted where they died.

The investigation remains open and police ask that if anyone was travelling in this area at the time and witnessed what occurred, or may have video that captured the incident, please contact the police.
