My buddy’s daughter is a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse at a local hospital. Emily is one of the nicest and most caring people that you will ever meet. She has dedicated her life to caring for some of the most vulnerable children in society. She truly is an angel and if you ever find yourself in a NICU and you see her, know that your loved one is in safe hands.
Anyway, Emily recently posted that September is NICU Awareness Month. To be honest, I didn’t even know that was a thing, but I’m glad it is. The purpose is to remind all of us that there are babies out there fighting just to have a life. I hope it also serves as a reminder to those of us who have never had a child in a NICU to realize how lucky our children truly are.
