INDIANAPOLIS - Police are thanking a good Samaritan for a helping a shooting victim on Indy's east side Sunday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 1:30 a.m., officers were called to a gas station in the 5400 block of E. 16th Street on the report of a person shot.

Police said a pizza delivery driver was pulling out of the gas station when he noticed blood leaking out of the back seat of a parked car.

The delivery driver found an adult male in the backseat of the car shot in the leg, police said.

The pizza delivery driver told FOX59 he placed his belt on the victim's leg to stop the bleeding until first responders arrived. After police arrived on scene, they placed a tourniquet on the victim's leg.
