The NDP is not impressed with the provincial government’s performance in job creation.

The unemployment rate went up nationally and in several provinces last month, including Newfoundland and Labrador. The jobless rate stood at 10.5 per cent in July but rose to 10.7 last month according to Statistics Canada.

NDP Leader Jim Dinn says this province has the worst jobs record in all of Canada, losing 3,700 full-time jobs in August.

Over the last ten years, Newfoundland and Labrador’s job total employment increased by 2.32 per cent according to Dinn, the worst rate of job growth in Canada he says.
