A Celebration of Cultures event hosted by the Multilingual Department and Alaska Native Education Program at the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District was canceled due to some families not feeling comfortable attending because of recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the Interior.

The annual event was set to take place this year on Sept. 17 at Ryan Middle School.

In an Aug. 25 email, the Interior legislative delegation was invited to attend and bring a dish that represents their culture. The delegation was notified on Thursday about the cancellation.
