ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan football will have a different voice leading the operation over the next two games.

Biff Poggi, a veteran staffer, former Jim Harbaugh confidant and college head coach, was named interim head coach by Sherrone Moore on Monday.

Poggi will serve in that capacity Saturday against Central Michigan (Noon, Big Ten Network) and in the Wolverines’ Big Ten opener at Nebraska on Sept. 20.

The move is a response to Moore’s pending suspension he negotiated with the NCAA as part of the advanced-scouting that landed Michigan on probation, facing hefty fines and recruiting restrictions.
