GREEN BAY, WI — The Detroit Lions have a long way to go to get back to being one of the best offenses in the NFL.
The Lions opened the 2025 season on Sunday, Sept. 7, with a humbling 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
They didn’t score a touchdown until 55 seconds remained and the game was well out of reach. They averaged 3.8 yards per play, their fewest in a game since Anthony Lynn was offensive coordinator during the 2021 season. And their new faces in prominent places on the offensive line and coaching staff did little to alleviate concerns they could be in for some major growing pains early in the season.
