Picton Fair, operated by the Prince Edward Agricultural Society, is the oldest continually operating fair in Ontario, dating back to 1841. It remains one of the most popular and successful fairs in the region. Not only is it old, it is old-fashioned, with focus on agriculture and rural arts and crafts. That in fact, may be the reason for its success.
The crowds on Saturday, in spite of some early day showers, were as thronged as usual and indicate that almost everyone who lives in The County is at least “a little bit country.”
