BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) — When members of the Logan Fire Company No. 1 realized there was no organized 9/11 memorial service in Bellefonte this year, they decided to step in.

The fire company announced it will host a service on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. outside its station at 120 E. Howard St. The gathering will honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and pay tribute to the first responders who rushed to help.

Organizers are asking community members to park in downtown Bellefonte and walk to the fire station to allow space for fire apparatus and emergency vehicles.

The company is inviting the public to attend and reflect as the community comes together in remembrance of one of the most defining moments in recent American history.
