CORTLAND, Ohio — The Trumbull County Combined Health District is reporting a human case of West Nile virus that has been confirmed by the Ohio Department of Health.
Trumbull County officials did not provide any additional details about the person who was stricken with the virus.
According to data from the ODH, there are now 19 confirmed human cases of West Nile virus in the state this year, including five in Cuyahoga County and two in Portage County.
Health officials say West Nile virus "generally doesn't lead to severe illness, however, it can still make you sick. Common symptoms include fever, headache, and body aches."
