YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Sentencing will be Oct. 1 for a man who pleaded guilty last week to wounding a man during a shooting New Year's Day 2024 at an East Side bar.
Allen Torres, 30, entered guilty pleas Sept. 2 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court before Judge Anthony D'Apolito to charges of felonious assault, a second-degree felony and two third-degree felonies of being a felon in possession of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises.
Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of 17-21 years to run concurrent with a 46-month sentence he received earlier this year in federal court on a gun charge.
Torres is accused of shooting a man at a bar in the 2100 block of Hubbard Road. Police have not given a motive for the shooting.
