DALLAS — Two Dallas police officers have been arrested after turning themselves in on separate criminal charges, police say.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Officer Scott Simpson turned himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department on Sept. 4. He had a warrant out for his arrest, charging him with unauthorized release of body-worn camera recordings, a class A misdemeanor.
Officer Cesar Rangel turned himself in to the Denton County Sheriff's Department on Sept. 5. Rangel had a warrant out for his arrest charging him with assault family violence, a class A misdemeanor.
Simpson has been with DPD since September 2019 and is part of the Central Patrol Division. Rangel has been with the department since September 2022 and is part of the Northeast Patrol Division.
