KENNEDALE, Texas — A North Texas man was killed while repairing a car after it fell on top of him, police say.

According to the Kennedale Police Department, officers were dispatched to the incident at about noon Monday at a local mechanic shop in the 4300 block of Eden Road.

Witnesses told police the 43-year-old man was working on a car when it fell off its jack directly on top of him, officials said.

The incident caused life-threatening injuries to the man and, despite efforts made by the Kennedale Fire Department, led to his death.

Police, along with the Tarrant County Crime Scene Unit and the Medical Examiner's Office, are investigating the incident.

Officials said the man's name is not being released out of respect for the family.
