Miller K Market and Save More, two of Gary's most prominent grocery stores, have reopened after the city's Health Department shut them down last week amid a push to improve food safety at groceries and restaurants.

Gary is continuing a crackdown on supermarkets and restaurants that are violating city codes. The city also has recently shut down the Super Save grocery store and the Jerk N Go and Vee and E Original Jamaican Jerk Chicken restaurants, giving each the chance to reopen as soon as they remedy their issues, Gary Corporation Council Carla Moran said.
