KNOX COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) - It wasn’t your typical Sunday at one Tri-State church as members gathered to celebrate a milestone.
The Knox County Baptist Church turned 150 years old. Church records show that when it was established in 1875, it was a union church for three years, rotating weekly amongst Baptist, Christian, Methodist, and Presbyterian congregations.
The Baptists eventually bought it out or were gifted it from the other denominations; however, those records remain unclear.
“[The current building] was built in 1930,” said Pastor Doug Wilson. “It’s unique in that it’s stucco. We built the fellowship hall in 2007.”
In addition to morning worship, members joined for special music while longtime members shared some of their fondest memories.
