KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/KFVS) - History was made in the state of Missouri on Monday.

Catherine Hanaway was sworn as the state’s first female attorney general and the first woman appointed to a major statewide office under Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe.

She is a former state representative and speaker of the Missouri House.

“My priorities are pretty clear,” she said on Monday morning. “I want to fight crime, and then I want to protect Missourians. Protecting Missourians includes protecting our constitutional rights.”

Her appointment followed Andrew Bailey‘s announcement that he was stepping down to become co-deputy director of the FB I.
