Governor Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority released a revised agreement on a budget for the fiscally-strapped agency, which modifies, though does not eliminate routes and sets a gradual rate increase on fares.

McKee and RIPTA Chief Executive Officer Christopher Durand issued a joint statement, writing, "Overall, our new proposal stabilizes the Authority’s finances, modernizes operations, realigns service deliberately and sustainably, and protects core services—all without asking more of the taxpayer. It embodies our shared commitment to ensuring a fiscally responsible, efficiently managed, and rider-focused transit system for Rhode Islanders."
