BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Recovery doesn’t have to mean doing college alone. At Virginia Tech, The Roost is redefining what it means to live in recovery on campus , bringing students together with a shared purpose.
And in its first year, that vision is taking root.
“I would definitely call this year a success,” Kaitlyn Carter, assistant director for the VT recovery community, said.
That’s how Carter sums up the first year of The Roost, Virginia Tech’s first residence hall for students in recovery.
Carter helped bring the idea to life.
In its inaugural year, The Roost ended with seven students calling it home. This fall, that number is already up to 11.
