New Orleans clergy abuse survivors have advanced a partial settlement with the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Travelers Insurance.
“We acknowledge the courage of the survivors who have stood against the forces of darkness. This is some relief, but it is far from the full satisfaction of the Archdiocese’s obligations,” said Jeff Anderson. “This is an opportunity for the survivors to find some comfort while continuing to pursue claims against Travelers Insurance.” Advertisement
The settlement comes after hundreds of survivors filed claims under the Louisiana Child Victim Act and after a long bankruptcy process.
Due to the settlement, survivors will be able to pursue suits Travelers Insurance, which is the only insurer that is not part of the settlement.
“For years, surviv
