NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) - The Georgia Cancer Center worked with the City of North Augusta to install a sunscreen dispenser station that was unveiled on Monday.
North Augusta's Mayor Briton Williams joined members of the Georgia Cancer Center for a ribbon cutting on Sept. 8 at Boeckh Park on Hammond's Ferry.
The dispenser was installed in response to rising melanoma rates, according to the Georgia Cancer Center.
"Getting sunburned typically five or more over the course of your life increases your risk of melanoma by two times," said Nyree Riley, community outreach director at the Georgia Cancer Center.
