CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Cullman County Schools has 21 new buses that boast new camera technology.

The school system hopes it will get a better read on the license plate numbers of vehicles that fail to stop for school buses, allowing law enforcement to crack down on those who endanger children by breaking the law.

“At some point, we’ve got to deter people from running our stop signs,” said Cullman County Schools Superintendent Shane Barnette.

Barnette said since the start of the school year, six vehicles have failed to stop for school buses.

“If we have one, that’s too many," Barnette said. "But six, that’s ridiculous."
