MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A former Mobile County Sheriff's Office sergeant has been indicted by a Mobile County grand jury, according to district attorney Keith Blackwood.

Former Sgt. Daniel Holifield was indicted on 12 counts of theft and possession of forged instruments, Blackwood said.

The MCSO hired Holifield in December 1998, and he was serving as the manager of the MCSO Fleet Department at the time of his arrest, News 5 learned.

Holifield was arrested in April 2023 on 13 charges, including three counts of first-degree theft of property and 10 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

According to court documents, Holifield allegedly used official MCSO lettering and forged the signatures of three co-workers to purchase 10 cars.
