Moped thief busted after off-duty cop watches bold carjacking
WASHINGTON, DC – A 34-year-old man was quickly arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly carjacked a moped in Northeast Washington in front of an off-duty police officer — only to be chased down and caught moments later by on-duty units.
The incident unfolded around 9:44 p.m. in the 1000 block of Brentwood Road NE, where the suspect, identified as Terel Rivers Antwoin, forcibly removed a man from his moped and sped away. An off-duty member of the Metropolitan Police Department witnessed the entire incident and immediately alerted Fifth District officers, sharing a description and the direction the suspect fled.
Responding officers saturated the area and spotted the suspect riding the stolen moped in the 900 block of 17th St
