DUBLIN, Ga. — A Laurens County jury began deliberating Monday afternoon in the murder trial of Ben Whitaker , accused of killing his wife, Tiffani Scarborough, just 59 days after their wedding .
Dozens filled the courthouse to hear the closing arguments, which marked the end of nearly two weeks of testimony in the case filed as malice murder.
In a recorded police interview, Whitaker admitted to the killing .
"I walked into the kitchen and I shot her," he said on the recording.
Prosecutors highlighted this confession, arguing that Whitaker intentionally shot his wife after growing frustrated with her "nagging" about his drinking.
