Prosecutors are seeking a bench warrant for former Vancouver defense attorney Josephine Townsend after she failed to report Friday to the Clark County Jail to serve a 10-day sentence in her forgery case .
Assistant Attorney General Jaime Taft, who prosecuted Townsend’s case, said Townsend’s former associate notified her Saturday evening that Townsend suffered a medical emergency Friday. Taft said documents shared with her do not indicate the nature of the emergency, according to court records.
Additional documents that included medical information were sealed by the court.
The defense has filed a motion asking that Townsend be relieved from serving the jail sentence due to the medical emergency.
As of Monday afternoon, Townsend, 65, was not listed on the jail roster.
