JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — Drivers in James City County can expect to see speed enforcement cameras going up this month near several schools as part of the county's Automated Speed Enforcement program.

The installations will happen during daylight hours and include signage, radar devices and camera hardware.

Cameras will only enforce speed limits during school zone hours when flashing lights are active. Violations are issued to drivers going at least 10 mph over the speed limit. Each citation comes with a $100 civil fine, but it does not result in DMV points or insurance penalties.

The following school zones are slated for ASE installation:

Toano Middle School

Norge Elementary School

Stonehouse Elementary School

D.J. Montague Elementary School

Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School
