DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Minnesota’s governor is taking action to protect vaccine access.

Governor Tim Walz issued an executive order on Monday, safeguarding access to vaccines in the state.

The order directs the state epidemiologist to have a standing order for the COVID-19 vaccine.

That would give healthcare providers and pharmacists more flexibility to get and administer the shot.

According to the governor’s office, this order comes after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. changed vaccine approval for only older and high-risk Americans.

“While the Trump Administration attempts to limit Americans’ access to preventative care, Minnesota will be guided by science and medical expertise, prioritizing the health and safety of our people,” said Walz.
