The Celebration of Recovery will take place Tuesday, September 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Broadmoor Branch Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive.

Hosted by the Louisiana Department of Health and Shreveport Behavioral Health, the event will feature expert speakers, family resources, and discussions designed to support those living with substance use disorder and their loved ones.

Organizers say the evening will be both uplifting and informative, with dinner served in a relaxed atmosphere, plus games and door prizes to make learning engaging and fun.

“People living with substance use disorder need to be celebrated and encouraged that what they’re doing is a good thing,” said family nurse practitioner Karla Gibson.

The event is free and open to the public.
