SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A long-time volunteer for the San Angelo State Park has received the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
Ruth Jordan is a retired teacher and has volunteered with San Angelo's Friends at the State Park for 25 years.
Jordan founded Friends of San Angelo State Park in 1998 and introduced several popular annual events at San Angelo State Park, including the Monarch Butterfly Horseback Trail Ride and Silver Bluebonnet Day.
"It means that somebody noticed that I was doing all that. That I was volunteering," Jordan said.
On Monday, Sept. 8, state Rep. Drew Darby presented a Texas State flag that flew over the state Capitol for a flag rededication and raising ceremony honoring Jordan.
