A Franklinton man has been arrested in connection with assisting one of the men who escaped from the Washington Parish Jail on Aug. 31.

Forrest was arrested at his home on Sunday and is being charged with assisting escape.

Elliott and another inmate, Corey Lee Ard, escaped from the Washington Parish Jail around 4 p.m. on Aug. 31 by climbing the perimeter fence after a yard call.

While deputies were escorting the inmates back to the jail from the yard, Elliott and Ard hid behind a structure and proceeded to scale two separate fences with barbed wire.

Deputies learned of the missing inmates 30 minutes later, when a member of the public called to confirm he bonded out.
