TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Magic Valley 9/11 Memorial is just around the corner, but preparations began months ago.
Since last year’s event, both directors, Larae Saufley and Angela Johnson, along with the rest of the committee, have been meeting once a month. Until May hit, it became bi-weekly.
“It’s the largest flying flag in America,” Saufley said.
The American Flag will hang alongside the Perrine Memorial Bridge starting on Thursday. Saufley and Johnson have been putting on this event for six years now.
“We never stop planning for our event. Right when we end our event we start for the following year,” Johnson said.
The mom duo’s goal is to improve it each year. So far, all the lines to support the flag are up, and this year, the memorial will introduce a bell toll.
