JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The former jail area at the Old Jerome County Courthouse received a new face lift that will benefit the community.
Three years ago, the old county jail was reduced to merely a storage unit. However, last summer, the county commission decided to invest more than $2 million in renovations to create more space.
The Jerome County Commissioners and the Jerome Chamber of Commerce held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday to celebrate the completion of the newly remodeled area.
The space will still have the rich history of the courthouse, but will now have a modern look and a functional workspace for the Department of Motor Vehicles Office.
