STONY POINT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 4-year-old boy is recovering after being bitten by a copperhead snake at a daycare in Alexander County.

It reportedly happened while he was in a sandbox on the playground.

A daycare worker killed the copperhead.

The boy's family said no one at the daycare called 911, and they weren't made aware of the incident until they arrived at the daycare to pick him up.

"The director got up and said he got snakebit," said Brook Cooper, the boy's aunt. "My first thought was, why didn't they call 911? My second thing was like, does the parents even know about ... the other parents?"
