A suspect is in custody after Canton Township police said a 30-year-old woman was found dead inside a home Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Pinehurst Drive around 3:32 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from the Canton Public Safety Department. Inside the home, officers found the woman's body.

Police have not identified the suspect by name, age or gender but characterized the incident as both a "domestic assault" and a "homicide." Authorities said there was no known ongoing threat to public safety.

The victim also has not been identified by name, pending notification of family, police said.
