LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - September is National Literacy Month, a time to highlight the importance of reading and writing in a content-driven world.
According to the National Literacy Institute, over 54% of adults have a literacy level below a sixth-grade level.
Here in Southwest Louisiana, the SWLA Literacy Council is working with SOWELA Technical Community College to help adults.
