RIDGE SPRING, S.C. — Confusion at Ridge Spring Town Hall has residents searching for clarity after phone calls went unanswered and doors were locked on Monday.

Much of that confusion stems from a wave of resignations at town hall following the recent mayoral election. Seven of ten town employees including the police chief, public works director and town clerk have left their posts, leaving behind only two public works employees and one part-time police officer.

“My whole police department is gone except for one part-timer,” said former Police Chief Gerry Grenier. “And until we find out what the new mayor’s plan is, I don’t even know if the town will have a police department.”

Grenier said he worked to leave his department in order after turning in his notice.
