(CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) -- Former Charlotte 49ers head coach Biff Poggi is back on the sidelines after being named Michigan’s interim head coach.

The move comes as Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore begins a self-imposed two-week suspension over the program's advanced scouting case. Moore can coach throughout the week as the actual suspension starts on Saturday.

Poggi was fired by the 49ers last November after going 6-16 over two seasons in Charlotte. He previously served as an associate head coach under Jim Harbaugh and returned to Michigan this year.

The Wolverines (1-1) take on Central Michigan Saturday before traveling to face former Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and Nebraska Sept. 20.
