AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis sat down with some East Austin residents on Monday to hear their safety concerns about nearby Edward Rendon Sr. Park.

Since March, the Austin Police Department reports it has gotten more than 30 reckless driving calls around the East Austin area. These calls include complaints of cars driving recklessly and almost hitting kids and pedestrians, cars racing up and down Nash Hernandez and Comal streets, vehicles doing doughnuts in the parking lots and street and cars crashing into objects.

At a meeting with community members at Martin Middle School, Davis said she is here to listen.

"Quality of life issues, violent crime, all of those things, whatever's important to the community, we'll talk about and we'll address," Davis said.
