BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - We’re on your side with an important message: Your life matters.

Sept. 8 was 988 Day - a day of action meant to raise awareness about the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

The day also lands in Suicide Prevention Month and the Crisis Center is marking 55 years of service to the community. They help those experiencing personal crisis or mental health issues.

To observe the day, they set up a table at Joyland Restaurant in Birmingham to meet and talk with people in the community in order to share resources.

“We all are impacted by these issues in some way,” said Executive Director Ana Sullivan. “Either ourselves or a loved one.”
