YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — Cleanup is still underway in Yuma four days after heavy rain from Tropical Storm Lorena caused flooding Thursday night.
While the storm bypassed Phoenix, it hit Yuma hard, leaving damage behind and knocking out power to hundreds. Dozens of trees were knocked down in neighborhoods. Wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour also took down fences and power poles.
“The wall went down,” said Yuma resident Humberto Reyes, whose concrete fence was knocked down during the storm. Reyes and his wife placed an orange plastic barrier around their property to warn others. He said the City of Yuma advised him to secure the area.
“I’m just thankful nobody got hurt, that’s all I can say,” he said.
