BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - The City of Bloomington has entered into a $13.5 million agreement with a long-time partner aimed at enhancing public safety.
Monday night, the city council unanimously approved an early termination of its current contract with Arizona-based public safety technology firm Axon Enterprises , and signed off on a new 12-year deal with the same company at the police department’s request.
Police Chief Jamal Simington said his department has worked with Axon for the past 22 years, having purchased the company’s tasers in 2003. The partnership was expanded most recently in 2022 to include body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, and digital evidence storage.
