State lawmaker urges Federal Electric Company to address power grid failures

In a move aimed at preventing future power outages, the Baja California State Assembly has approved a resolution urging the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to urgently repair and modernize the electrical infrastructure in western Mexicali. The resolution also calls on state and municipal civil protection agencies to conduct more thorough risk assessments in the area.

The proposal, introduced by Assemblywoman Michel Sánchez Allende, follows a severe storm in August that caused widespread damage and service interruptions.
